Kayak Urban Townhomes Construction Update - COVID-19

April 22, 2020

Community News

Dear Home Purchasers,

As you may already be aware, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Ontario government has ordered the temporary closure of all non-essential workplaces. Any company not included in the current and up-to-date list of essential businesses was required to close as of 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

For the time being, only construction projects considered industrial such as refineries and petrochemical plants; and infrastructure such as the building of hospitals, roads and bridges will move forward.

While residential construction that is near completion will continue, all newly initiated residential projects will cease until further notice. Unfortunately, Kayak Urban Townhomes falls into the latter category.

Please be aware that as a result of this temporary stop work order, the delay in completion of your home will encompass the combination of two (2) periods of time including:

  1. The time allocation once the Ontario government allows new starts for residential projects; and also,
  2. Any additional period of delay due to after-effects caused by the pandemic which are beyond the vendor’s reasonable control (the “Remobilization Period”).

Once the new residential project restrictions are lifted, we will have more detailed information on revised closing dates.

In addition to the information provided above, all home purchasers at Kayak Urban Townhomes were recently notified as to the Unavoidable Delays due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. For more information on COVID-19 and Tarion, please visit tarion.com/news/64045/tarions-response-covid-19
